Families may purchase a book for the library and have their child's name and photograph (photo optional) entered on the first page. It is a great way for the library to enhance its collection and for children to celebrate a special occasion. HOW IT WORKS: Children select from books that I have purchased and put aside for this purpose. These books are the result of ongoing collection development: they represent new books that got favorable reviews in the professional reviewing sources I read or additions to a subject area that needs enhancing. There are picture books, nonfiction books and chapter books to choose from. A letter/order form goes home at the beginning of each school year. You fill out the form, enclose $15 and a photo, and send it to school. The request is processed by PTA volunteers, roughly on a weekly basis. Your child may select a book with assistance from Mrs. Menzie or Mrs. Gerehard, or you may make an appointment to come with your child by calling the library. Those appointments must be before or after your child's school day.
