The Class Election from the Black Lagoon
Author: Mike Thaler
Have you ever wanted to win an election? Well, in this story, The
Class Election from the Black Lagoon, a boy named Hubie was trying
to be president. But, oh-uh, here comes Trubie, Doris and Fodle wants
to be the first women for president. How can Hubie win election? Well,
read this story to find out more.
I felt just like Doris. I would want to be the first women
to be president. I would feel so proud of myself. I know you would
feel the same way too if you won an election.
I loved this story because the cover illustrations are
really beautiful. The inside illustrations are nice even though they
are black and white. I don’t have a least favorite part of this story
because it has wonderful words.
I would recommend this book, The Class Election from the
Black Lagoon to anyone who is interested in elections or debates. I
loved this book because it is really funny. So you should really read
it! |

to Horrible Harry in this
story.
This book is a great book! I loved it! I think the author,

is so funny, Song Lee is sweet, Sidney is a prankster and their teacher,
Miss Mackle is very creative. I bet Suzy Kline has a great personality

Frog and Toad are Friends
Author:
Arnold Lobel
Do you have a friend you do everything with? Then, you should read,
Frog and Toad are Friends! The story is about a frog and a toad
that do everything together. One day, Toad was upset because he never
gets a letter sent to him. If you want to see if Toad gets a letter and
becomes happy again, then you will have to check this book out of the
library!
I connected to Toad in Chapter Four, “A Swim” because Toad
became very embarrassed at the thought of being seen in his bathing suit.
Have you ever felt embarrassed? I have. When I was four years old, I
was embarrassed when a soccer ball hit me in the head.
I liked this book very much. My favorite part was
when Toad lost
a button. He said, “The whole world is covered with buttons, and not
one of them is mine!” If was so funny! I loved that line. |

I can relate to Aunt Eater when she had a hard time figuring
out who the person was that was going into the library. I once lost one

when there were still dinosaurs. My favorite part of this book had to
do with the lost money.

Jumping into Nothing
Author: Gina
Willner-Pardo
Did you ever feel scared about diving off the high dive? Read this
adventurous book, Jumping into Nothing with Sophie and Annalise.
In the story, Sophie is very scared to go on the high dive and Annalise
tries to convince Sophie that it is not scary. In Jumping into
Nothing, my favorite character was Sophie because when I was little
I was scared to dive off the high dive too. It’s pool season now…so go
to the library to check out this book, Jumping into Nothing.
I can relate to how Sophie feels in this book about jumping
off the high dive. I have felt scared like Sophie was scared in the
book. I am no longer scared to jump off the high-dive and now I can
dive off high dives almost five times a week! I have fun diving just
as Sophie does in this story.
I loved this book! I loved it when Sophie tried to face her
fear by doing things that she was afraid and scared to do. I did not
like it when Sophie decided one of the things she would do to face her
fear was eat some kind of gross bug!
I would recommend this book, Jumping into Nothing to
kids seven years and up. I would also recommend this book to people who
are afraid to dive off the high dive. Some people who may like this
book are people who like summer and who don’t like the high dive! |

think it might happen to you, then maybe you’ll want to read about Junie
B’s vacation in Junie B., First Grader Aloha-ha-ha! To find out
more about this book, you’ll have to check it out from the library.
When Junie B. goes on vacation it might turn out wrong. I
am lucky because when I go on vacation usually nothing bad happens
except sometimes it rains when my family and I want to go to the beach.
I loved this book because Junie B. is so funny. One funny
part was when Barbara Park has Junie B. say, “Alo-who?” Alo-ha is the
Hawaiian word for hello and goodbye.

Author:
Peter Calanotto and Pamela Schembri
Have you ever lost your lunch box? If you did not check out The
Secret Lunch Special, you should! The girl in the story, Emily lost
her lunch box. She was afraid that she was going to get a lunch
ticket. To find out whether she finds her lunch box or gets a lunch

I have never lost my lunch box, but I have lost my gloves.
I am lucky because I always get them back. I can relate to Emily when
she felt sad and worried about her lost lunch box.
I really liked this book because of the characters. I loved
this book because sometimes you lose something just like Emily did in
this story. I liked Emily because when she lost her lunch box, she
didn’t know what to do. I felt bad for her. My least favorite part of
the book was when Vinni put her lunch box in front of Emily’s face.
I would recommend this book for all second graders because
it teaches you not to get upset when you lose something. Everybody may
lose something from time to time. You don’t always get back your lost

stay with the person who is watching me.
I loved this book! My favorite part in this book is when
they threw a surprise party for Aunt Molly! I didn’t like it when Cam’s

Great and the Missing Key, there is a character named Nate the Great
who is a detective. In this story, Nate the Great’s friend, Annie was

the Great’s friend has the same problem as I did with my sister. That’s

Stanley
Author: Syd
Hoff
Do you want to live in a cage? Caves are filled with dirt, bats and
rocks. Stanley and all cavemen are very different. Stanley doesn’t
like living in a cave. The other cavemen chase him away. Read this
book, Stanley to find out what kind of home Stanley builds and
how the other cavemen feel when they see Stanley’s new home.
I could relate to Stanley because he likes to do a lot of the
things that I like to do. I like to plant and smell flowers. I like to
feed animals. I like to climb trees and lay in the grass. I make
houses for snails. I like to draw pictures of animals. All of these
self connections made me feel closer to Stanley.
I liked this book, Stanley because it made me laugh
and smile. My favorite part of the book was in the middle and end. In
the middle of the book, it reminded me of climbing in the trees. At the
end of the book, it brought me happiness. My least favorite part was
when one of the cavemen got Stanley with the rocks.
I would recommend this book to another person because it was
a funny book. The type of person who might like this book could even be
an adult. I know that my dad would enjoy reading this book, too. |

The Case of the Secret Valentine
Author:
James Preller
Do you like mysteries? The Case of the Secret Valentine is a
story about two detectives that are friends. This book is about a
Valentine’s Day letter and the detectives are trying to figure out who
gave them the Valentine’s Day letter. The main characters are Theodore
and Mila. My favorite character was Mila because she was funny in the
way she had her friend do all the work. If you like a good mystery,
read this book for more information.
I felt similar to how the characters did in the story. When
they read the letter they were disappointed, and I was, too.
I loved this book. My favorite part of this book was
towards the end, but you’ll have to read the story to see what I am
writing about. It had something to do with the letter and some spelling
mistakes. I don’t have a least favorite part of this story because it
was such a good book.

fantastic children’s book. This book is a mysterious, funny book. I

Frog was a nag a lot.
This book reminds me of when I don’t take care of my room
and it’s just messy. Then my mom says, “Emma clean up your room!”
I loved this book. I think that it is very funny how Toad
is shorter than Frog and Frog is taller than Toad. I thought it was
funny how Frog is always nagging.

characters are Nate, Sludge and Oliver. My favorite character was
Sludge because he is cute and he likes pancakes like me. Nate ran into

what happens in Nate the Great Goes Undercover.
When I eat pancakes, I eat them so slowly because they are
delicious. Nate does that too. One time, I felt like a detective (like
Nate) when my brother, Timothy lost my Fantastic Four figure and I found
it.
I liked the book very much. My favorite part was when Nate
went in the garbage can and he said to himself that he smelled bad.
I would recommend this book to another person because was

liked that Aunt Eater never gets angry. I find that I can get

I loved this book because it’s scary. I loved the part when
all the animals thought that a jewel thief was there, but the thief
really wasn’t there.
I would recommend this book to someone who likes scary

Title: A

Author: Ron

Do you like April Fool’s Day pranks? If you do, then you will love this
book, A to Z Mysteries-The Skeleton School. This story is about
a principal named Mr. Dillon who pulls a April Fool’s Day joke on the
whole school that involves a skeleton. Josh, Dink and Ruth ran into a
problem when they couldn’t find the skeleton Mr. Bones. You will have
to read the book to figure out Mr. Dillon’s prank.
Since this book was about Mr. Bones, a skeleton who is
usually in the nurse’s office, I can relate to going to the nurse’s
office. Hasn’t everyone gone to the nurse’s office at school? I don’t
go very often, but some people do!
I liked this book because I enjoyed the mystery in it. It
was also a funny book. The characters were great because they are the
ones who are involved in the mystery. My favorite part of the story was
when Josh, Dink and Ruth were looking for the skeleton. I also liked
the end, but you’ll have to read it to find out why I liked the ending.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes mysteries
