Updates from Dr. Hattar
New York State Education Law § 2803 requires school districts to adopt and implement policies governing the use of internet-enabled devices by students during the school day. In accordance with this law, the Yorktown Central School District Board of Education established a Students and Personal Electronic Devices Policy to limit distractions and support a focused learning environment. Beginning with the 2025–26 school year, Section 2803 also requires districts to publish an annual report by September 1 detailing how the policy was enforced during the previous school year, including information on disciplinary actions and an analysis of any demographic disparities in enforcement.
The information below provides an overview of how Yorktown Central School District’s policy was implemented and enforced during the 2025–26 school year.
